This week after much work on photoshop experimenting with the shapes I had to begin with, I came up with a few great ideas.

However once I started to toile these together I realised the back and front of the shirt were telling two very different stories.

This was confirmed in my toile review with Laura and Tom.

After talking to them for a while we came up with a plan to better merge the two ideas taking the back curved yoke and applying that to the front too. I then spent time draping the fabric underneath it to create a curved twisted look, similar to that of my inspiration. I am pleased with the outcome.

Despite how behind I have fallen, I believe this final idea is worth it. It has become a mixture of sporty and evening elegance and I really like this. I am also happy with the choice of materials I have chosen. Originally I had thought of playing it safe and doing the final piece in white cotton I have now decided to be more experimental. I have found a lovely purple blush cotton to use. I can't wait to try this out as I feel it will drape well and add to the concept of the garment.

It has been a long process but I believe I am making progress. next I need to perfect the pattern and make a full toile before buying the fabric for the final piece. I plan to have this done by the end of the holidays as to finish the final piece in the first week back.
