Monday: We had a group tutorial with Tom today where we looked at Our group project and went off to do research on sustainability in fashion. I realised during an A-Z challenge how little I actually knew about what was going on in the fashion industry at the moment in terms of innovation both in design, technology, sustainability and inclusivity. I realised I need to start researching a lot more and make an effort to look at what is going on in fashion.

I was particularly interested in the idea of using solar power in clothes to generate energy as we go about our daily lives.

Tuesday: Our second day with our third year mentor. I really enjoyed this session. Stella was showing me her progress and how her designs had changed to become a lot more complex and interesting from her original line up. I helped her by sewing samples of curved edges. working with the fur was very interesting as I have not done this before. I learnt that it is easier to cut out pattern pieces from the wrong side, I was also luck enough to sit in on Stella's critical review. I found this incredibly inspiring. I saw just how creative you can be with your seam lines and making them into style features. I learnt so much not just from Stella but also the others in the group. But the thing that really stuck out to me was how important it is to do what you enjoy. your designs are unique to you, don't try to tame your ideas, think wild. Don't take yourself too seriously,

Wednesday: Today we focused on our group project, our group is slowly progression, however I think we now need to stop researching and just start creating our own pieces. I am struggling with this at the moment as I have not had much inspiration, I think this is partly because I've done so much research I don't know where to start. so now I am going to just jot down some ideas and sketch out my thoughts until I find something I love.

we also has a talk regarding our essay, I think I have decided to do mine on the Burberry trench coat as it has become such a fashionable piece of clothing despite the fact that is was originally designed as a coat for soldiers in the first world war. I am intrigued by the fact that such an item has now become so popular in todays fashion.

Thursday and Friday: both days had a strong focus on our group project, as we began to move our ideas forward, its been a slow moving project so far but I think it will begin to pic up soon. Friday I finally began to sketch my ideas down, but I am still finding it hard to experiment with and grow my original ideas.

hopefully next week will bring a breakthrough and some inspiration
