A large part of our current project is based around textile printing, because of this we took our story boards and used them as inspiration to create prints. Using India ink and several different tools, I began mark making from my mood board ideas.

I started by focusing on the moss I was originally drawn to, however this was difficult as I found it hard to mark out the different textures. They began to look messy and did not inspire me.
So instead I began to focus on Brickwork, looking at the different lines.

I’ve used lines and rectangles to create brickwork like prints, however they are more suggested as oppose to accurate depictions of a wall. This has reminded me of Burr brick walls, where the bricks used are often burnt offcuts and less neat and tidy. I really like this idea as it fits with the idea of broken down walls disrupted by nature such as moss.

I hoped to find a way to combine these ideas, so I took to photoshop and began editing to see how I could merge the idea of the moss texture and the shapes and pattern of the brickwork, to show how nature always prevailed over manmade architecture, or how the two worked together to create a new object, such as a moss covered wall or cracks in concrete filled with grass.
