The Yoke Skirt

This has been the hardest thing we have made so far. Chloe specifically said don't make it too hard for yourself but many of us did.
Firstly I had chosen fabric that although it looked good it was impossible to work with, the floral patterned fabric I used for the skirt was horrible because it kept fraying and was static and just a nightmare. The velvet although it looked great, was really thick and didn't really iron flat, because of this I had a hard time trying to flatten my yoke.

It was all going well until I started sewing the yoke, my pattern was really complicated with lots of points and curves. I struggled to pivot the fabric as it kept fraying around the edges. A friend later suggested next time I interface the fraying fabric so it stays firm. This is something I will likely try out next time. To make it worse, every time I had to unpick I'd end up with big holes in my satin fabric that show up on the right side.
I also struggled to sew the waistband, as my velvet fabric began to twist when I attached it to the skirt. I ended up redoing this several times and am still not happy with it.

This skirt really stressed me out and I did not enjoy making it. Next time I will be choosing my fabrics more wisely, and not make the yoke design so difficult to do. Next time I'll get it right.
