A good friend of mine asked me to help with her dance dress and as we sat and talked about it on a houseboat in the middle of lake Kariba we decided why not have me design and make it.

It was a struggle to say the least but through many difficulties and days we carried on until the final dress was as bright and lovey as the woman wearing it.

Originally the design was meant to have shorts underneath, a design I'd seen on a "showpo" skirt (the Empress shorts), we loved the edgy idea of wearing shorts to a dance, however this idea kind of failed as I have never made a pattern for shorts before and really struggled with it. In the end we both decided that a skirt would be the best option, and I have to admit I am very happy with the final result.
We decided on a two piece again to be a more current and edgy style than a typical ball gown.
She looked stunning on the day as expected of course and I feel the dress showed her as the strong and intelligent woman she is whilst including her feminine flair.
